Plan your perfect Stag night

The most important thing about organising a stag party is to begin planning as early as possible. Leaving the organisation until the last minute is a guaranteed recipe for disaster, since most weddings are organised months if not years in advance you have no excuse for not getting the basics sorted out as soon as possible. Abide by this easy to follow checklist below and the celebrations will undoubtedly be the resounding success you’re looking for.
Location
Possibly the biggest decision of all is exactly where the stag is going to be held. This really has to be decided by the groom to be himself but it may be useful to give him a few pointers, a little research on the internet will throw up countless suggestions. One thing to bear in mind is that a five star weekend in Las Vegas may sound appealing but will undoubtedly reduce the final group size. As a rule, the closer to home you hold the celebrations the more people will turn up, you have to balance the extra excitement of travelling to far off locations with the inevitable decline in group size.
Group Size
Get a rough idea of how many people you want to attend early on. It’s possible that the stag is the world’s most popular man and has hundreds of friends whose names he can’t even remember. This doesn’t necessarily mean he will want them all attending; he may want it to be a small group of close friends, check with the main man. Also, bear in mind that if you want to organise some activities as part of the weekend group size may be an important factor, for example most karting centres only allow eight karts on the track at once so a group of sixty guys would spend most of their time standing around waiting for their turn.
Date
Ideally you want a couple of weeks between the stag do and the wedding, this allows for any “after effects” such as the loss of body hair, obscure tattoos and being stuck in Denmark without a passport to be rectified before the big day.
Budget
It’s important to get an idea of how much people will be willing to spend, you want to get the best weekend possible but the last thing you want to do is organise something so outrageously amazing nobody can afford to go. It may well be that all of your mates happen to be Premiership footballers in which case this will be less of an issue, however for most of us this really can make the difference between a great weekend and an embarrassing lack of attendees.
Get the ball rolling early
Get things booked as soon as possible, flights and hotels will generally go up in price the longer you leave it, get deposits in early and get things booked as soon as you can. The last thing you want is to get everybody agreed on a plan and a budget and then go to book it a month later and everything has doubled in price, get those flights nailed down as soon as you can.
Finishing touches
Once you have the basics all sorted you can spend a bit of time on those little extras which make for the most memorable of occasions. Booking a restaurant for example is a good idea, it can be tricky to find seating for 25 boozed up lads on a Saturday night in a city centre, get somewhere sorted in advance. Call a couple of night clubs and see if they allow stag groups and check dress code requirements, many clubs aren’t keen on letting 30
smurfs through their doors on a Saturday night, if possible get email confirmation that you can get into a venue and take it along, this goes for strip clubs too.
Organise at least one daytime activity, a stag group that starts on the beer at 11am will often not see past 8pm. With so much to choose from there’s no excuses, from the stag do staples of paintballing and go karting through to the more imaginative offerings such as target shooting and bobsleighing, there really is something for everyone.
