Finding the right hair accessory for your wedding day

If you love accessories finding the right piece for your hair is as exciting as finding the right dress - and just as important.

Think about the lines and design of your wedding dress and try to emulate this in your accessories. Tiaras are the traditional option and come in all shapes and sizes. If you are wearing your hair up, then consider a piece that peaks in the middle with your hair as the back drop. Alternatively, a tiara with uniform shape can look very elegant when wearing hair down.

A beautiful comb can give just as much impact as a tiara if worn forward on the head for a quirky fashionable look or in the side of a bun to attract attention to the styling of the hair. The trend for wedding dresses now is veering towards a Hollywood evening dress look and a comb or headband often compliments this better than a tiara.   Headbands with the main focus on one side of the head in an asymmetrical design gives a stunning vintage appearance (and for the fashion conscious can be worn again at a social occasion).

Also, bare in mind what other jewellery you will be wearing. A tiara, drop earrings and a necklace can look too much with some dresses. My golden rule is to have one stunning accessory and keep the rest simple. You just have to decide if that major focus is going to be in your hair or part of  your jewellery.

At Flo & Percy we think that choosing the right hair accessory is just as important as choosing the right wedding dress, after all, it's more likely that your daughter will walk down the aisle in your tiara than your dress!
