Table Centre Pieces

It is always very difficult to know where to start with your table decorations when taking into consideration the formalities of placings and layouts.
The best place to start is the centre piece that will be your focal point of each of your tables, once you have decided on this, the rest will then start to flow around it.

The first thing to do when deciding on your centrepieces is to establish what atmosphere or feeling you are trying to create, along with your colour and / or theme as the atmosphere will reflect your theme e.g. if you are planning a romantic country style wedding, you may consider a structured, low arrangement made up of soft flowers like roses and some foliage finishing off with some candles around the arrangement. Alternatively, you could go for a colourful, fun, relaxed country style wedding, so you could have mis-matched pots or even jam jars full of flowers picked from friends and neighbours gardens, this is a great money saving idea too!

There is also the height to consider – low lying arrangements or tall. Be careful when choosing a taller arrangement that you don’t go for something that is eye level otherwise they will be in the way of the person opposite!

Tip: A great way of seeing what works with your theme and colours is to make a Mood Board, this involves collecting pictures of all of the bits you already have that reflects your colours and theme – then cut out lots of arrangements that you like and arrange them on an A3 piece of paper, you will soon see how well they work together and how it will bring your event to life!

Money saving tip: a great way of saving money is to ‘double up’ on things, here are just a couple of centrepiece ideas:
  • If you are having favours, make a fantastic display with them using an acrylic or wire cake stand.
  • Instead of one big cake, have individual cup cakes made and gift wrapped in a clear box and ribbon and make a display with them, again using an acrylic cake stand, this saves money on flowers and favours!
  • Balloons are a great, cheaper alternative also.
